Series Worth Watching

As many know that I had been unwell since 25th January 2019, yup I am better now. Sick, working but yes, I watch series too. Just because I am a workaholic does not mean that I cannot have fun. Does it?

However, I have some series or rather you can say new era series that is worth watching. Now, before you start stating that FRIENDS, The Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother, The New Girl, Supernatural, Game of Thrones are the only shows you prefer watching, try out these 5 shows I have listed out for you here.

5: Young Sheldon

If you have watched The Big Bang Theory you must know about the character Sheldon Cooper played by Jim Parsons, this series is a prequel of it. The story begins with the character Sheldon Cooper at the age of nine, living with his family in East Texas and going to high school. Lain Armitage stars as young Sheldon. Jim Parsons is also there as the voice of adult Sheldon Cooper, who narrates the series as an adult looking back at his childhood.

If you like kids and TBBT, I bet you are going to love it and this kid Lain Armitage is not only super-duper cute but also a great actor already.

4: Constantine

This is not the movie or the season 4 for Legends of Tomorrow series. Constantine was a series on NBC which got cancelled. It casts Matt Ryan as John Constantine, a demon hunter and dabbling master of the occult, who struggles with his past sins while protecting the innocent from the converging supernatural threats that constantly break through to our world due to the “Rising Darkness”. Balancing his actions upon the line of good and evil, Constantine uses his skills and a supernatural scary map to journey across the nation to send these terrors back to their own world, all for the hope of redeeming his soul from eternal torment.

The actors are truly good and here I love the character of Zed Martin played by Angelica Celaya. Though the series was canceled after season one, due to the requests of fans, the character of Constantine is again brought back in The Legends of Tomorrow Season 4. If you love horror, drama, action, you would like it.

3: Insatiable

Obviously, if you are a Netflix person you would know about it. The story is of Patty Bladell, a teenager who was constantly bullied in school for being fat and after losing weight because of a freak accident, she is now thin and seeks revenge on her bullies. A disgraced civil lawyer and obsessed beauty pageant coach, Bob Armstrong, notices Patty’s potential and sets out to turn her into a pageant queen. The entire cast is very cool. My favorite here is Bob Armstrong played by Dallas Roberts and Bob Barnard played by Christopher Gorham. I love them as a couple and I must say that they play their character exceptionally well. Christopher Gorham & Dallas Roberts, I personally feel are exceptional actors because it is way too hard to portray as a bisexual/gay couple when you are heterosexual. One thing I will suggest is, keep an open mind and don’t be judgmental while watching it. If you like dark comedy and teen drama then this is your show.

2: Lucifer

Many of us know about it I guess. Lucifer Morningstar the devil who abandons Hell for LA where he runs his own nightclub and becomes a consultant to the LAPD. Tom Ellis, plays the role of the devil and Lauren German plays the character of Chloe Decker. Although many love their chemistry and Ellis being handsome. I personally love his singing. And in this series, my most favorite character is Charlotte played by Tricia Helfer because she is not only an awesome but also extremely versatile. If you love horror, drama, supernatural then go for it.

1: Brooklyn nine-nine

This is a sitcom and if you loved FRIENDS and HIMYM then Brooklyn nine-nine is your show to watch. However this series cover many important topics too and is darn progessive, like character Raymond Holt played by Andre Braugher is an openly gay, black police captain since 1987. I love his relationship with his husband Kevin, which is indeed iconic. Character Rosa Diaz played by Stephanie Beatriz is a Latina bisexual detective. Character of Sergeant Amy Santiago played by Melissa Fumero is a sweet but strong detective in power. Andy Samberg who is also a producer of this show plays the character of Jake Peralta who is kiddish but is an absolute smart detective. Character of Gina Linetti is played by Chelsea Peretti, who is an awesome assistant to Capt. Holt and a great friend to help whenever needed. Detective Charles Boyle played by Joe Lo Truglio is a very lovely best friend to Jake and always rooted for Jake and Amy. In season 5 I (I won’t tell you the episode ;)) Sgt. Terry addressing Joe by his original name not his character name. The Character of Sergeant Terry Jeffords played by Terry Crews is a man with muscles but does not fall into toxic masculinity and is a great father. This show tackles topics like racial profiling. You will also find Dirk Blocker from the movie poltergeist playing as Hitchcock and Joel McKinnon Miller from Men in Black 2 playing is Scully.

The entire casting team is great. I have a few favorite scenes of the series which I absolutely love. Though I hate shootings, this is the only team that I would love to meet someday. However, if you like cops show, sitcom, drama, action then you will love it.
